Nicola Kannegiesser

Originally from North Vancouver British Columbia, Nicola has always been active in the fitness industry. Starting with a family history of Professional Dancers and athletes Nicola entered the fitness industry by competing in WNSO Fitness Competitions while studying to receive her Personal Training Certification. Wanting advance her education and training Nicola moved to Ontario where she studied with the Body Harmonics Pilates of Toronto and the PhysicalMind Institute of New York where she received her Pilates Instructor Certification. Nicola continues to further her studies by completing teacher trainer courses and attending Fitness and Pilates conferences.

Kristin Franks
Kristin was born and raised in southern Ontario but decided to move to North Bay where she works for the Ontario Government. Kristin and her family feel right at home in North Bay and love all it has to offer. She has a history in personal training and fitness instruction, and is an avid long distance runner. This passion lead her to pilates which has improved her fitness level and aided in injury prevention. Kristin studied with Body Harmonics and is a certified Pilates Instructor.

What is Pilates?

Created by Joseph Pilates, Pilates is a safe innovative system of mind-body exercises that dramatically transforms the way your body looks, feels, and performs. Building on the principals of Joseph Pilates these exercises work to create a strong “core” or centre of your body. Unlike conventional exercises where weak muscles tend to get weaker because of the larger muscles getting stronger Pilates conditions the entire body, even the ankles and feet. Your entire body will be challenged with a balance between static and dynamic exercises leaving you feeling strong and supported from the inside out.

Pilates can also be dramatically modified to allow for a full range of difficulty starting with beginning and increasing the intensity as your body grows stronger. No matter what age or condition Pilates will help you look and feel you best.

Prenatal Pilates
Make your pregnancy feel great by performing tailored mat and ball exercises to build strength and support for all the physical changes you will experience through your pregnancy. Having a fit pregnancy helps in easing your delivery and prepares your body for all the fun and exciting challenges of carrying and caring for your new baby. For new moms this class is a great to start to get back in to your pre-baby fitness routine.
